Apple Vase Centerpieces

So our church put on a dinner for our local teachers. The kids gave their teachers invites and then served them dinner. It was a very fun night. I was asked to decorate the gym for that night. I love to decorate. So after brain storming I decided to take make vases out of apples and fill them with flowers. Teacher = apple, flower = elegant? I had no idea how it was going to turn out. After I was done I was very satisfied. They looked adorable! I also took pencils and with a utility knife I made a small slit in the erasers. I then typed a small appreciation note cut that out and glued it onto card stock. Then I stuck the tiny note into the slit in the eraser on the pencil. I took the apples and my husbands drill then went to work. I took a large bit and drilled hold through the top of the apple (moving my drill around to make space for flowers in the middle). Then I drilled a small hole on the top side of the apple (at an angle) for the pencil to go in. I used roses as my flower with a small amount of babies breath. Here are pictures so you have a better idea. They were a huge hit! When the night was done I thought they would use the apples again. It turns out that they did not need them so I tried to pass out as many as I could. I was left with some still so I brought them home and put them in a bowl of water.
